APRIL is the cruellest month,
breeding Lilacs out of the dead land,
mixing Memory and desire,
stirring Dull roots with spring rain.
Winter kept us warm,
covering Earth in forgetful snow,
feeding A little life with dried tubers.
4월은 가장 잔인한 달.
죽은 땅에서 라일락을 움터내며
기억과 욕망을 뒤섞으며,
둔해진 뿌리를 봄비로 일깨운다.
겨울은 오히려 푸근했다.
망각의 눈이 대지를 뒤덮고
마른 뿌리로 그럭저럭 생명을 이어갔다
